ASICS SportStyle GEL-CUMULUS™ 16 in the studio with Annelie Stokke Grimwade
Shot inside the studio of artist Annelie Stokke Grimwade, the ASICS SportStyle GEL-CUMULUS™ 16 enters a space shaped by sculpture, material exploration, and process. Surrounded by experimental objects and works-in-progress, the sneaker moves beyond its performance heritage and into a setting defined by craft and artistic inquiry.
Originally designed as a running silhouette, The GEL-CUMULUS™ 16 reflects ASICS’ technical approach to comfort and movement, featuring breathable mesh construction, structural overlays, and the brand’s signature GEL cushioning.
Annelie Stokke Grimwade is a visual artist of Swedish-Sámi-British descent working with sculpture, performance, and poetry. Informed by Sámi epistemologies, her practice moves between material experimentation and allegorical storytelling. Through sourcing and reworking ethically charged materials, she examines how value, responsibility, and imagination are formed amid climate breakdown and colonial extractivism.
Her practice produces speculative artefacts that hold abstraction and representation in tension, where beauty and violence remain materially entangled. Alongside object-making, she explores participatory formats that create space for collective reflection and co-creation in the wake of rupture.
